Licensing, inspection and violation records are US state government works and public records. Facts are not copyrightable. If you believe a record is inaccurate, that is a correction matter rather than a copyright one, and it should go to the issuing agency or to Corrections.

Images and provider-submitted content

I do not crawl the web for photographs. Images on this site come from one of three places: submitted by a verified provider, licensed from a street-imagery provider under its terms, or drawn by me. Photographs containing identifiable children are not published.

Reporting infringement

If you own the copyright in material published here, send a notice containing:

• Your physical or electronic signature.
• Identification of the work you say is infringed.
• The URL of the material and enough detail to locate it.
• Your address, telephone number and email.
• A statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
• A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner.

What happens next

For provider-submitted material I follow the notice and counter-notice process under 17 U.S.C. 512, and I maintain a repeat infringer policy. For anything I published myself, I will simply review it and take it down if the claim has merit. I would rather remove a disputed image than argue about one.

Knowingly submitting a false notice carries liability for damages under 17 U.S.C. 512(f).
